About the Rienza river
The Rienza is born at the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and runs through the entire Val Pusteria, from Dobbiaco to Bressanone where it joins the Isarco. It's a friendly, sparkling river winding through villages, meadows and forests.
Our tour runs from San Sigismondo (Kiens) to the Chiusa di Rio di Pusteria — one of the most scenic sections of the river. It's a class II route: fun rapids that are never dangerous, ideal for families with children, groups and first-time rafters.
Best season is June to September. The wide valley lets you enjoy Val Pusteria's landscape: meadows, farms, castles, and on the horizon the Dolomites to the south and the Zillertal Alps to the north.
Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable for children?
Yes — it's the most family-friendly tour we run: open from age 4-5. Rapids are fun but controlled.
Where does the tour start?
We meet in San Sigismondo, in Val Pusteria. Before the activity we'll send you the exact meeting point location via WhatsApp or email.
How long is the descent?
The descent itself is about 1 hour and 30 minutes. With briefing, gearing up and transfers, plan on 2.5-3 hours total.
What gear do I need?
Nothing: we provide the wetsuit, life jacket, helmet and everything you need. You bring swimwear and a towel.
Can I do it during pregnancy?
Rafting during pregnancy is generally not recommended and most official centres do not allow pregnant women to take part, to avoid the risk of impacts, falls or abdominal trauma. There are no truly safe routes, as even the calmest stretches can involve sudden jolts.
