About the Aurino river

The Aurino (Ahr) rises from the Vetta d'Italia (Klockerkarkopf), flows through the Valle Aurina and the Tures Valley, until it joins the Rienza river in Brunico. It is one of the most beautiful rivers in South Tyrol, with crystal-clear glacial waters and a valley floor surrounded by forests and peaks over 3,000 metres.

The rafting stretch we cover starts near Lutago and reaches just beyond the Speikboden ski area. The river is classified as class II: perfect for a first rafting experience. With Aurino Plus, you continue further, tackling more technical rapids including class III.

The season runs from June 1st to the end of September. In spring and early summer, the water flow is higher due to melting snow and glaciers. The water temperature is around 6-10 °C: wetsuits, life jackets, and helmets are provided by us.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to swim?

No, it's not required. The life jacket keeps you afloat and guides are with you the whole time. You just need to be comfortable in water.

What's the minimum age?

Aurino base is open from age 5.

What should I bring?

Swimwear and a towel. Everything else is provided by us and already included in the price, at no extra cost.

What if it rains?

The tour still runs — we're already wet! We only cancel for severe weather or unsafe flow. In that case we refund or reschedule.

Where do we meet?

At our base in Campo Tures / Sand in Taufers, Costa di Tures 8. From there we drive together by shuttle to the put-in.

How long does it last?

About 2 hours and 30 minutes total (briefing, gearing up, descent and return). The descent itself is about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
